Få band, om något, har utvecklats, förändrats och varierat sitt uttryck så mycket under sin livsstid som The Waterboys. Med bandets enda fasta medlem, Mike Scott, har bandet sedan starten 1983 ändå alltid låtit The Waterboys, oavsett om inspirationen kommit från post-punk, rock n roll, country, keltisk folkmusik eller bluesen.
