Dawit Yifru

Dawit Yifru is one of the most revered figures in Ethiopian music history – a visionary composer, arranger, and keyboardist with a career spanning over 50 years. As the founder and bandleader of iconic groups like Roha Band and Dahlak Band, he helped shape the sound of modern Ethiopian music. In April 2023, his self-titled vinyl album was reissued, featuring remastered recordings from the 1970s and delivering immersive, hypnotic Ethio-jazz. Yifru also serves as Chairman of the Ethiopian Musicians Association, advocating tirelessly for artists and their rights. 
His work continues to resonate across generations, earning him a legendary status both in Ethiopia and abroad.
