Picture of Timbuktu

Timbuktu

Imagine an artist who for three decades has managed to be both a national treasure and an uncompromising voice for justice—that is Jason "Timbuktu" Diakité in a nutshell. His story began in Lund in the 90s, but it was with the album Alla vill till himmelen men ingen vill dö (2005) that he cemented his place as one of the country's most influential poets. Since then, he has navigated between funky beats with the band Damn!, moving life stories in his book A Drop of Midnight, and his tenth studio album har berg har vatten (2025), deeply influenced by his years living in Hong Kong. Seeing him live in 2026 is to witness a master celebrating 20 years of his greatest hits while delivering a more mature, soulful sound that proves his search for new perspectives never ends.
