Det var 1986 som Tony MacAlpine debuterade med “Edge Of Insanity”. Det albumet och uppföljaren “Maximum Security” från 1987 gjorde MacAlpine till en av de främsta och mest framgångsrika gitarristerna i vågen av shredders under det sena 80-talet. Hans neoklassiska stil har influerat en lång rad av andra gitarrister. Utöver en strid ström av soloalbum har MacAlpine också släppt plattor med band och projekt såsom Project X, M.A.R.S. och CAB.
