Med intimitet, stram produktion, tillbakalutade Sade-vibrationer och en känsla av mystik fick Rhye ett smärre genombrott 2012–2013. Singlar som Open och The Fall samt debutalbumet Woman gav oss någonting som vid tidpunkten annars inte riktigt fanns, en bitterljuv elegans i form av snyggt skuren souljazzpop. "The lean production leaves little space between the listener and the songs, and they feel almost touchably close”, skrev Pitchfork. I fjol kom tredje fullängdaren Spirit (ytterligare ny musik ryktas dessutom vara på gång!)
